C.1.2. Support for Local Projects

C.1.2. Support local projects
C.1.2. Economic Pillar - Local Economy Development - Support for local projects

Why does this matter?

Tourism can benefit the communities where tours take place.

When tour operators support local social or environmental projects, they help strengthen the local economy, protect the environment, and contribute to community well-being.

What does it take into account?

This indicator looks at how much of the tour's revenue is donated to local projects.

These projects can include social initiatives, environmental conservation, or other activities that benefit the local community.

How is this measured?

First, the total amount of money donated to local projects is calculated.

This amount is divided by the tour's total revenue to determine the percentage of revenue that supports local initiatives.

This percentage is converted into a score from 0 to 5:

  • Higher percentages receive higher scores,
  • Lower percentages receive lower scores.
